Kate Purcell
Trad Master/Instructor – Singing
Kate Purcell is a gifted vocalist, guitarist, and recording artist from Feakle, County Clare—an area renowned for its deep traditional Irish musical heritage.
Raised in a home filled with song, Kate was inspired from a young age by her father, a talented traditional singer with a vast repertoire. Immersed in the rich musical traditions of Clare, Kate’s early influences included Irish traditional and folk music, and her love of song eventually expanded to embrace blues, American country, and contemporary folk genres.
Kate began her performance career in local venues, eventually earning a long-standing residency at the prestigious Dromoland Castle, one of Ireland’s top destinations. Her performances there and beyond have led to regular features on Irish radio and television. As a solo artist, Kate has released four acclaimed albums, which have received awards and praise from Irish Music Magazine, Live Ireland, and the Chicago Irish American News.
Internationally, Kate has toured extensively across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and the United States. She is currently the lead singer and guitarist for the world-renowned traditional Irish group Cherish the Ladies. Her compelling vocals and warm stage presence have seen her share the spotlight with some of the most respected names in Irish music, including Lúnasa, Máirín Fahy, and The 4 of Us.
