Nollaig Casey is one of Ireland’s most exceptional fiddlers, celebrated for her unmistakable style and emotionally rich sound that has become a hallmark of contemporary Irish traditional music.
Born into a musical family and earning a Bachelor of Music degree from University College Cork at the remarkable age of nineteen, Nollaig began a groundbreaking professional journey. She first joined the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra before stepping into the spotlight with the legendary Irish folk band Planxty. Since then, Nollaig has become one of the most sought-after collaborators in traditional and popular music.
Her vast recording and performance résumé includes work with a host of iconic artists, including Cherish the Ladies, Enya, Van Morrison, Sinéad O’Connor, Ricky Skaggs, Rod Stewart, Nanci Griffith, Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy, Carlos Nuñez, Mary Black, Andy Irvine, Moving Hearts, Christy Moore, Liam O’Flynn, Sharon Shannon, Spandau Ballet, Dick Gaughan, and Máirtín O’Connor, among many others.
Nollaig also shared the stage and studio with her late husband, the legendary guitarist Arty McGlynn, as well as with her sisters Máire and Mairéad as part of The Casey Sisters. Her work spans a wide spectrum of musical traditions while remaining deeply rooted in the soul of Irish heritage.
